🎓 Graduate Spotlight: Greg Robertson 🎓

During his time at WVU Law, Greg dedicated himself to public service, scholarship, and advocacy. Greg served as a Board Member of the West Virginia Restorative Justice Project, worked as a Representative Intern with the Congregations of Saint Joseph, and externed for the Honorable Michael Aloi of the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia. He also served as a Peer Academic Consultant, helping support fellow law students throughout their time at the College of Law.

Greg was involved with the West Virginia Law Review, first serving as an Associate Editor before later becoming an Executive Notes Editor. This year, he also published his student note, Community Lawyering in Coal Country: Empowering Those Who Power America, in the West Virginia Law Review.

In addition, Greg gained practical experience through summer clerkships with Mountain State Justice during his 1L summer and the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office during his 2L summer.

🎓 Graduate Spotlight: Greg Robertson 🎓

During his time at WVU Law, Greg dedicated himself to public service, scholarship, and advocacy. 🎓 Graduate Spotlight: Anna Barfield 🎓

Throughout her time at WVU Law, Anna has been deeply involved both in and outside the classroom. During her 3L year, Anna served as Vice President of the WVU Law Class of 2026 while also working as a Tax Law Research Assistant for Professor Elaine Wilson.

During her time at WVU Law, Joyce Lin built an impressive range of experience through public service, litigation work, and leadership involvement. During her 1L summer, Joyce worked as a Summer Law Clerk with the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office before spending her 2L summer with the Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Throughout law school, Elyse Moser made her mark through her hard work, attention to detail, and commitment to the WVU Law community. She also spent both her 1L and 2L summers with Steptoe & Johnson as a Summer Associate, building valuable experience along the way.

Sydney gained valuable practical experience working with Steptoe & Johnson during both her 1L and 2L summers. She also showcased her advocacy skills in the courtroom, winning the Lugar Cup during her 3L year.

🎓 Graduate Spotlight: Lauryn Alexander 🎓

During her time at WVU Law, Dr. Lauryn Alexander distinguished herself as an advocate, scholar, leader, and trailblazer. Along with becoming the first African American to earn a Doctorate in Forensic and Investigative Sciences from WVU, Lauryn will also become the first individual ever to hold both a Ph.D. in FIS and a J.D.

A litigator at heart, Lauryn and her partner won the 1L Lugar Mock Trial Competition. During her 3L year, she captained the Black Law Students Association Mock Trial Team, leading the team to a second-place finish at Regionals and a Sweet 16 appearance at Nationals in Portland, Oregon. Lauryn also served as Secretary, Vice President, and President of BLSA during her time at the College of Law.

Lauryn served as a Student Attorney in the General Litigation Clinic and authored an award-winning paper titled Reducing Communication Barriers in the Use of the NIST-OSAC Verbal Scale: Focus on Reporting Glass Associations — A Manual for Criminal Attorneys and Forensic Scientists. Her work emphasized the importance of collaboration between forensic scientists and criminal attorneys and earned the Back to Basics award in the jurisprudence section at an international forensic conference.

Amid all of these accomplishments, Lauryn also fulfilled a longtime dream by joining Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the first Black sorority.

During her time at WVU Law, Sarah gained an impressive range of legal experience. She spent her 1L summer serving as a judicial law clerk for Chief Judge Thomas S. Kleeh of the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, followed by her 2L summer with Tucker Arensberg in Pittsburgh.

This year Sarah also served as the Social Chair for the WVU Law Class of 2026 and participated as a clinician in the United States Supreme Court Clinic.
